By AFPA suicide bomber slammed his explosives-filled car into the convoy of Iraqi Shiite politician Ahmed Chalabi on Friday in Baghdad, killing two people and wounding 17, security officials told AFP.
Chalabi, the former Pentagon favourite, was not in the convoy when the attack took place in western Baghdad's once upscale Mansur district at around 9:30 pm (1830 GMT), they said.
A security official with the interior ministry said two people were killed, while the wounded included five of Chalabi's guards.
The attack occurred when the convoy was heading to Chalabi's office in Mansur, he added.
Chalabi was, before the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime in 2003, one of the best known Iraqi opposition figures in the West.
