At least nine people were killed and 13 wounded in a car bombing at a market in Baghdad, security officials said on Sunday.
The attack occurred in a popular market in Bayaa, a predominantly Shiite area in the southwest of the Iraqi capital, security officials said.
Violence in Baghdad has fallen sharply over the past few months but despite the improved security insurgents are able to strike with some regularity.
According to US statistics there are now an average of four attacks a day in the Iraqi capital, 89 percent less than in 2006 and 83 percent lower than in 2007. Overall violence in the country is at four-year lows.
