I find it strange that there are so many different and extreme views on biofuels. Major think tanks like the Worldwatch Institute have said biofuels can help solve hunger and push down food prices, because they reduce oil costs and offer economic opportunities for small farmers.
In Brazil, a barrel of sugarcane ethanol costs $35, a barrel of oil costs $112. Biofuels push down inflation and benefit the poor very much.
So why is this Mr Ziegler (a communist, I've heard), so against biofuels when they can help solve world hunger?
