Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia said on Thursday it had shot down another Georgian spy drone, Russia's Interfax news agency reported, but Georgia said the allegation was untrue.

"Abkhaz air defence forces have shot down another Georgian unmanned aircraft," Interfax quoted the separatist region's deputy defence minister, Anatoly Zaitsev, as saying.

A senior official at the Georgian Interior Ministry told Reuters there had been no Georgian drones flying over Abkhazia on Thursday.

"The information that a Georgian drone had been shot by separatist forces is not true," said Shota Utiashvili, head of the analytical department at the Georgian Interior Ministry.

On Sunday, Abkhazia said it had shot down two Georgian spy drones, also denied by Tbilisi.
