Gamal, son of Hosni Mubarak
Andrea Sanke interviews Gamal Mubarak, assistant secretary-general of the National Democratic party of Egypt. Observers see in him the most likely successor of his father, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

"Muslim Brotherhood"

The Muslim brotherhood can never be accepted in Egypt, especially in Modern Egypt as a political force or Party likewise any Coptic party, no party based on religious sect is allowed by the Egyptian law. This is the case in most of Modern Europe, which we learn from. Any party that welcomes reform and changes based on the constitution and law is welcomed to compete in the political arena. Unfortunately, we have not witnessed these changes except in the National Democratic Party. Other parties were mostly consumed by internal conflict and opposition to the ruling party, they offer no alternative policies. So we welcome and encourage all the efforts done by the younger generation to bring more stability to Egypt, to listen to forces of opposition and to attract foreign investment as well.

Comment 10 has no relevance to the interview

My reaction is to comment number 10 rather than the interview. I find no relevance to the content and the main theme of the conversation which is the reform policies. Regarding the Gaza issue I believe that Egypt has dealt in an intelligent and a humanitarian fashion to curb the aftermath of the attack.

the mubaraks

there is nothing democratic about egypt. people have been protesting their government for days to allow humanitarian aid to enter gaza yet the government meets the protests with beatings, arrests and god knows what else. this is a dictatorship that is allowed to exist only because they are puppets in the hands of the US. The US ships prisoners to be tortured in Egypt, only because America doesn't believe in torture, so they do it elsewhere. what democracy is this. it is only a shame that the western media cannot take a few tips from aljazeera.net that is if these western and other media sources wanted to expose the truth.

Intelligent conversation

I congratulate both Ms. Andrea and Mr. Gamal for a youthful, energetic, intelligent dialogue charactarised by transparency and strong arguments. I especially admire the message Mr. Gamal sends to the civil society and the call to go back to normal respectful religious relations that ensures social security and peace of mind for all as well as elimination of any deviancy. This attitude if adopted by the majority of the people will facilitate the job of the Government to bring the security we desire, the progress we look for and the ambition to become more prosperous country that invites people from the whole world to engage in business relations and to join us in building more cultured and flourishing Egypt.

The Interview with Mr. Gamal Mubarak

As an Egyptian citizen who witnesses and experiences the political reform changes that are taking place in Egypt, I believe that Egypt is undergoing major historical changes that are reflected on social, cultural and religious levels. I also believe the current and future, ambitious, scientifically and objectively based reform, plans will enable Egypt to play a more pivotal role in the whole area. These plans and their execution are an accumulation of years of experience and years of difficult challenges.

Give them a break and listen

In reply to all of the comments made,
let’s try for once to be objective & optimistic. Enough of the corrupt, negative media that is spreading unhelpful news (ELbiet beitak, el ashra massaen and this thick el cahira el youm). If they have something positive to add pls do, and STOP criticizing unless you have a solution to improve the situation.
GO read the latest human development report and check the improvement. The discontent is only coming because the media never brings in the good or solutions to problems. I urge the national democratic party to present the improvement in a show addressing the whole country to shut the negative messages.
As for the MB they will never develop the country they will only take us back to the dark ages.

Reality

Mr. Mubarak
I have 4 names for “YOU” and two comments
The first name is Aymen Nour, “YOU” might know him, he came second in the “elections” in 2005, he is an opposition leader that according to “YOU” are free to express their opinion, nevertheless he is in jail now “convicted” of forging the power of attorney “tawkeel” to form his party which is a real joke taking into account that he “forged” the power of attorney for his own father and wife. So here goes the freedom of opposition.
The second name is Emad elkebeer, who was raped in one of “YOUR” police station for standing up for his rights so here goes the freedom of regular guys.
The third name is Abdel Wahab Elmesseery, a renowned Egyptian icon who belongs to opposition, who died of cancer recently, he was denied medical treatment abroad as it is usual for a man of his caliber in Egypt. So here goes the right of life to opposition
The last name is Elhewar, a satellite TV station out of London, for exposing “YOUR” regime they were denied access to “YOUR” Nile sat satellite. So here goes freedom of expression and criticizing “YOUR” government.
And here are the comments, the host went easy on “YOU” about poverty in Egypt, “YOUR” governments reduced the income defining poverty by almost 70% so that “YOU” can stand up and claim that “YOU” have improved the standard of living of Egyptians.
The second comment is that, “YOUR” father came to power in 1981 and lost touch with reality in 1987 after the uprising of the security forces and never regained it, these were fairly reasonable 6 years. “YOU” SIR has lost touch with reality even before “YOU” come to power so “WE” Egyptian under “YOUR” rule will not get the break we got with “YOUR” father.

Impressive

Actually its the first time for me to see Mr. Gamal speaking, and I am really proud of the way he speaks, The people who is calling him liar, well many of cairo's citizins know that there is a gap which is increasing between the poor and rich, but If u go to other governerates, u wont find them having any problems, they r living a quite peacful life and THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT thing This Family Made in Egypt...IT's ESTABLISHING PEACE, anyone can walk in the streets alone after 3:00 am and wont feel scared, we r a country that is just getting started, noway we can be super heros in a second, I think If this guy happened to be a president for the next round, He will make a great difference in the way that Egyptians live!

He is a clear liar

80 percent of teh egyptians are poor and everybody knows that. No need for citations.
If I am in the position of teh lady, I would ask him "Tell me one thing your fake party has acheived since 1981. Something to be compared to 27 years with a wealthy country like egypt.".

Liar... really liar, and it gonna be a real crisis if he jumped over egypt

Advice to the Royal Family of Egypt

I advise the royal family of Egypt is to leave it alone and get out soon from it. I believe so that you gathered enough money from being at that position. If you don’t agree with me, I recommend you to read the history of Egypt. Although along history, Egyptians look naïve people towards their rulers, when they rise up, their anger is unbearable.
Regarding what Gamal mentioned in his speech, it was full of lies. I believe that more than 40% of the populace are under poverty line. The national party is not representing the majority in the parliament as the last election was not transparent. If so, the opposing parties especially the MB will wash out the National party candidates.
Also he mentioned that the situation is different now compared to 4 years ago. That is why after 88 MP from the Muslim Brotherhood group were elected in the parliament, the NP tried to keep a good face to the public and show that they have a good reform agenda for people as well, which is good but mostly fake.

Big Liar like Father

If he is truthful, and the Egy gov let the parliament election transparently applied, the MB will wash out the national party. It is world wide known that the National Party is full of liar people and gangs. Also among the NP, they protect a national criminal that caused 1000 Egyptians to die 3 years ago on a ship carrier.

I believe that if they allow the normal people to speak freely without forcing them, they would ask to demolish the NP from its roots.

The problem with this guy and his father, and mother that they can not imagine the throne to be out of their hands and they do not understand that the simple Egyptian people is paying much attention to the situation more than before.

He is a lier

His father has no mandate to rule, so he is, actually who is ruling Egypt now is this guy and his mother, their only support is three quarter millions of security forces
