AFP News Briefs ListKennedy has a brain tumor: doctors
Veteran US Senator Edward Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor, doctors treating him at a Boston hospital said Tuesday.
Kennedy, the only surviving brother of assassinated US president John F. Kennedy, was admitted to hospital after suffering a seizure on Saturday.
"Preliminary results from a biopsy of the brain identified the cause of the seizure as a malignant glioma in the left parietal lobe," physicians Lee Schwamm and Larry Ronan said in a statement.
The normal course of treatment for such a condition is radiation and chemotherapy, the doctors said.
