2008 French Open
From May 25 to June 8, the world's tennis elite meets in Paris for the season's most prestigious clay tournament: the French Open at Roland Garros.
Serbia’s 20-year-old Ana Ivanovic claimed her maiden French Open title on Saturday after defeating Russia’s Dinara Safina in straight sets. The women’s new world number one succeeds the three-time Roland Garros champion Justine Henin, who announced her retirement days before the start of this year’s edition.
In the men’s draw, Rafael Nadal produced a flawless display to dispatch world number one Roger Federer in straight sets. Having dropped just four games in Sunday's final, the Spaniard claimed his fourth consecutive Roland Garros title, thereby equalling the record set by Swedish legend Björn Borg.
