Italy send Les Bleus packing
France lost 2-0 to Italy and has been eliminated from the Euro 2008, while their opponents booked a ticket for the final eight. In the other "Group of Death" match, The Netherlands, already qualified, beat Romania 2-0.

World champions Italy beat 2006 World Cup finalists France 2-0 here on Tuesday in their Euro 2008 Group C meeting to knock the French out of the competition while they progressed to the quarter-finals.
Andrea Pirlo converted a penalty in the 25th minute after Eric Abidal was penalised for a foul and sent off by referee Lubos Michel - Daniele de Rossi added a second from a freekick in the 62nd minute, which took a wicked deflection off Thierry Henry.
Romania's 2-0 defeat to group winners Holland in the other match ensured that the Italians reached the last eight, where they will play Group D winners Spain in Vienna on Sunday.
France finish bottom of the group.
