Colombian armed forces on Wednesday rescued French-Colombian politician and hostage Ingrid Betancourt, whose case has been one of French President Nicolas Sarkozy's priorities while in government.

“Ingrid Betancourt’s release is a huge victory for Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. He passed an order, it was executed with perfection. The mission’s success is a sign that FARC are in danger,” Pascal Drouhaud, author of ‘FARC’, said during FRANCE 24’s Top Story.
