Samuel Dumoulin of Cofidis won the third stage of the Tour de France on Monday, a 208km ride from Saint Malo to Nantes.

It is the first success on the Tour for the 23-year-old who crossed ahead of US rider Will Frischkorn with Frenchman Romain Feillu of Agritubel taking the leader's yellow jersey after finishing third.

The first peloton, lead by Australian Robbie McEwen ahead of Germany's Erik Zabel, finished 2min 03sec off the pace.

Feillu, 24, holds a 35sec lead over Italy's Paolo Longo, who finished fourth, going into Tuesday's time-trial over 29.5km at Cholet.

Spaniard Alejandro Valverde, who had been wearing the leader's jersey, drops to fourth position 1min 45sec behind the new leader.
