India and China 'not ready' for G8 climate goal

Latest update : 2008-07-09

India and China have said they are not yet ready to commit to the "vision" of a 50% target cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 set by G8 leaders. The 3-day summit concluded Wednesday on an optimistic note.

China and India are not ready to agree to a goal set by the Group of Eight industrial nations to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 50 percent by 2050, a French presidential aide said on Wednesday.
