La Tercera (Chile)
La Tercera reminds readers of some of French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s recent involvements in international issues. The Chilean paper suggests that perhaps Sarkozy likes to see himself as a bit of a superman, resolving world problems despite nobody asking him to. Among the examples quoted: his helping to free the Bulgarian nurses jailed in Libya and securing the extradition of the Zoe’s Arc members in Chad. He is congratulated for his efforts in trying to help free Ingrid Betancourt, despite not being involved in the final military operation which led to her release. The paper points out despite all his hard work Sarkozy is still very low in the popularity ratings!

“More tick deaths, remedy sales up”
Some thirty seven people have died across Turkey over the past two months after suffering from a fatal disease carried by ticks. This has led to a boom in an emerging market sector. Companies making tick hats, trousers and tick removing stickers have reported a rise in sales over the past few weeks. The Turkish Armed Forces are among those to use such products. According to the Turkish Daily News, staff at disinfectant firms have been working overtime to develop new anti-tick formulae and fumigation companies are visiting hundreds of infected sites a day.
“Watch and wait for white whales to wow”
Journalists at The Cairns Post in Australia are on the look out for Migaloo - the region’s famous white humpback whale. So far the creature has not been seen this year but a television helicopter has reported sighting another partially white whale off Byron Bay and the far northern waters.
