US-led forces have handed over central Iraq's Diwaniyah province to local security forces; more than half of the war-torn country's 18 provinces are now under local supervision.


   
Iraq on Wednesday took control of security in the central Shiite province of Diwaniyah from the US-led forces, an AFP correspondent reported.
   
Diwaniyah became the 10th of Iraq's 18 provinces to be handed over by US-led forces to the local security forces amid an overall fall in violence across the country.
