Kayak team leads the way in Beijing for French athletes

France's kayak team have arrived in the Beijing Olympic village - the first French athletes to arrive for the games. Here are their first impressions of the brand new complex.

The members of the kayak team are the first French athletes to arrive in Beijing's Olympic village, the facilities which will soon welcome all of France's 298 Olympic competitors.

For now, the huge complex is still mainly empty. The French kayakers seem pleased with their home for the games.

As for the food in the Olympic village — nothing from the outside world is allowed in. Athletes will eat here in the canteen, where draconian sanitary conditions are imposed.
