My wife and I just finished a three-month stay in Turkey; mostly Istanbul. We made many friends during our stay, and found out very much about Ramadan. Ramadan also means that heavy smokers cannot have a cigarette during the day. Traditionally Muslims will break their daily fast after sunset with figs and water, as was done by the Prophet Mohammad. While I am not Muslim, I think we should all accept and support the beliefs of the peaceful majority, while continuing to eschew the Extremists which continue to give the religion a bad name to the vast majority of people.
