There was no necessity for an election to be held, because it was totally unnecessary. Stephen Harper in his rush to win a majority Conservative Government has called an election today. Why was this election being held in the first place when Canadians were against it? Because in his rush to win a majority Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper chose to do so, because of his own power.
Why an election and what does Stephen Harper want? During the last two weeks the Harper regime has been very busy giving all sorts of perks worth billions of dollars to Quebec. In return Harper expects that the quebecois will vote Conservative and bring in a majority Conservative government. In normal language this is simply called vote-buying or open bribery by politicians. If this the sort of government that Harper wants to foist on Canadians, then us HOPE that he is trounced in the October 14, 2008 Federal Election in Canada. This is the pits! Vote-buying is now part of political scenario in Canada, and who knows better than Stephen Harper? Perhaps he will get his just desserts come October 14th. I personally hope that the Canadian electorate will not not vote for Harper or his coterie of powerful friends.
Canadians if you value your vote and want to make it count, then make sure NOT to vote CONSERVATIVE.
