Obama – a ray of hope
On FRANCE 24's culture magazine with Elisabeth Tchoungui, soprano Barbara Hendricks said Obama’s candidacy to the White House was “a bright light”. For Hendricks, “Obama is someone who is inspiring hope “. She said that Obama’s election to the White House would “change the way Americans see themselves, African-Americans see themselves and the way the world sees America.”

Barbara Hendricks continues to exude grace, intelligence and judgment. Her work as a goodwill ambassador for the UNHCR is an inspiration. And her comments about the positive effect Obama's election would have on African-Americans, particularly boys, show a more astute political sense and character than many professional commentators. All this and she's a transcendent soprano as well.
