Mbeki resignation – your reactions
Thabo Mbeki’s resignation as president has thrown South African politics into uncertainty. Send us your reactions.
The ruling ANC hoped the transfer of power from outgoing President Thabo Mbeki to his successor, ANC deputy leader Kgalema Motlanthe, would go smoothly. But the resignation of several ministers has raised the prospect of a messy transition. What does this mean for South African politics, and for the future of the ANC? its so bad

indeed the resignation of the former president has or rather will affect the party if not the country because i think his successor Mr Motlanthe is not ready/ he does not qualify to be the president, therefore i recommend Mr jacob at the expense of him.

mbeki

Prez. Mbeki has brought honour to His country and Africa, whether he was allowed to run his term or not well he is allowing for a transition which we hope will be an example for other's.ANC will not be appreciated for not bringing people out of the shackles of poverty left by the racist minority, but they have left a stage for others to improve. As an African this is a proud moment for SouthAfrica

Mbeki's and SA

I do not agree with a lot of Thabo Mbeki's policies but have to give him credit for stepping down ( Unlike Mugabe) when asked to. Zuma on the other hand is a shady character at best,. The only thing that he could do so far is to get the masses behind him by singing war songs. Is SA in trouble - probably like any other country where democracy is in place. Fortunately we can not depend on politicians to change the country. God alone can. If the people of SA return to God , repent and live a holy life we will be prosperous country again. As far as safety is concerned - I am a white male and spend 90% of my time in black townships where we are involved in housing. No black person ever threatened me or made me feel unwelcome. So come on lets claim this country back for God and His people.

Mbeik

Zuma may have the support of his party cadres, but he is no match to Mbeki, both in intellect and charcater. It is sad that such a great man, as Mbeki is, had to end his political career this way. But who knows, this may motivate other balck South African to form a formidable opposition party or join existing ones en mass. That is what SA needs-diversity of views among black South Africa.

our "beloved" goverment

People think that it is all moonlight and roses in the RSA. but no matter how we look at our political situation we are skrewd! former pres Thabo Mbekie, also "former terrorist" has ruled our country in nine yrs. of prosperity, but what about the unthinkable crime and violence. It is to dangerous four a white male to walk in braud daylight in Central Pretoria. And now? What is going to happen in the coming election? we will just go from bad to worse. if Jacob Zuma get elected then our new persedent wil be somone that has been accused of being corrupt. Will he become the person who we trust with our most treasured gift, our freedom.

African Coup

Thabos removal from office is the latest version of " Silent Coup in Africa" That is real coup for sure as there is so much interference and blackmailing of Africa on different issues and i hope that the man now in charge will make our region prosper

Mbeki resignation – your reactions

Unfortunately for SA this is the beginning of greater things to come and possibly a revolution by the poor ANC suporters and the poor majority in general to fight against the massive inequalities and distribution of both land and wealth which Mbeki failed to address during his term. I can see more violance coming and targeted mostly at the wealthy SAfricans and white famers who still control the economy of SA. I personally don't trust Zuma and his credibility to lead SA in its transition to address the issues of poverty, housing and crime or address the inequalities and the legacy of apartheid in every area of the South African people especially the Black majority, the coloureds and the poor white minority. I think the world will need to watch closely events in SA before violence and anarchy descents in that nation.

Mbeki Resignation

The decision by the ANC to ecall Mr Mbeki was done in bad faith, the man was to step just a few months away. I suppose Mr Zuma and his supporters are savouring the humiliation they have exacted on Mr Mbeki. The good lesson that has come out this whole issue is that Africa still have statesmen with integrity. I salute Mr Mbeki!

that- S. A. President forced exit.

The personality differeces btw president mbeki & his former deputy has a lot of political implictions cum lessons for african democrats. the ANC divided as they are did not expect it will led to some ministers who are sympathetic to mbeki to follow him. whichever way one sees it that SA (ANC) has set a record as regards party supremacy for my beloved country to learn from! Indeed african leaders shd know when thier citizens are fed up with them, poor mbeki realised his own in a hard way . the world is waiting patiently as the last has not been heard on mbeki/zuma/anc dance in the rainbow nation.

goo

that was good for to resing before its too late but you shld also tell your freind mugabe to follow suite

Mbeki's Resignation

WE ARE CLOSEST FRIENDS WITH SOUTH AFRICA. EVERYTHING THAT AFFECTS THEM ECONOMICALLY DIRECTLY AFFECTS US. THE ANC SHOULD HAVE ALLOWED MR MBEKI TO COMPLETE HIS TERM IN OFFICE WHICH IS APRIL NEXT YEAR 2009. IF THEY FORCE HIM TO RESIGN THIS IPLY TO US THAT THEY DID NOT LIKE HIM. THANK YOU!
