Collapse of the economic systems?

The global economy will slow to the point of near collapse. As the post-industrial alliances form, the eastern alliance will fight the west until localized tribes and collective economies re-emerge to take back what was lost. Finally, in 2061, after years of in-fighting, starvation and disease, my son will develop the first faster than light warp variable thrust propulsion system and mount it to a portable craft that can achieve near Earth orbit. He will then engage the engines and generate the warp signature that is so familiar to the people of the late 21st century. This will signal our presence as an advanced race to a near-by exploration team, who will arrive to meet us…
