Arctic sea ice was not the lowest in 30 years. 2008 was higher than 2007 for example. 2008 refreezing of ice is now normal. Temperature data from the Arctic was and continues to be skewed by bad reporting from Russia. NOAA just issued a traction of their October data for example ... the anamoly was 25% too high because September figures in Russia were reported as October.
In fact, a few degrees of C "warming" is due to the rapid freezing of the Artic sea ice last month ... this is a very short term trend as the freezing process releases some energy into the nearby air and sea. Expect a cold winter is how the story should read.
