Czech economy weathering the financial storm
Although the Czech government recently cut its 2009 growth forecast, its finance sector has shown greater resilience to the crisis than those of its neighbours. FRANCE 24's Virginie Herz reports on the country's prescription for a healthier economy.

The Czech Republic's  finance sector has been relatively free of the problems associated with the sub-prime mortgage disaster and problematic financial instruments. Unlike neighbouring Hungary it has not had to turn to the International Monetary Fund for help.
 
Conservative banking policies and avoiding the adoption of the Euro as a currency seem to have kept the financial crisis at bay, but seem incongruous for a country that will be taking over the presidency of the European Union in January.
