In election, Georgia sees its economic salvation
In Dalhonega these days, the only viable industry is tourism. With the local economy hurting, residents of this McCain-leaning county hope the next US president can help prevent its few remaining jobs from vanishing.

Dahlonega's Economy
This video did not need the Chamber of Commerce. And the comment about poor journalism must have come from a mean spirited person that wants to tell the world just how petty they are. There are not any jobs available in this county. People are being pushed into foreclosure by the local banks and taking land and homes away from the people that worked so hard to pay for them. Some have lost property that was bought for retirement investment losing as much as $100,000 in equity. There are no construction jobs. No new homes being built. Very little commercial building if any. There has been a terrible drought and our streams and rivers just trickled or dried up. The closing of the Mohawk plant just started the downward spiral of our economy. Slapped us in the face with reality and threw us to the ground. Are we too small to be noticed by our new president? Or will our little community gather together as it has in past and deal with this crisis as they have many disasters that has touched us in the past? We will survive this. It won't be easy. But we will.
