LOS ANGELES - San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker suffered a sprained ankle on Friday during his team's 99-83 loss to the Miami Heat.

Parker landed on a defender's foot during the first quarter and did not return.

The extent of the injury has yet to be determined but an ESPN reporter said during the game's telecast the team confirmed X-rays had proved negative.

Parker came into the game fresh off a career-high 55 points in a win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

The potential loss of Parker, who was averaging 33.3 points and 7.3 assists before Friday's game, is a blow to the Spurs who have made a poor 1-4 start to the season and are also without guard Manu Ginobili, who is recovering from ankle surgery.
