I expect the 2012 O-Games in London to be executed without a hitch. Londners are very resilient people...they showed these abilities during the II world war and continue to show it time an time again. The conomic hardtimes currently gripping the world will soon pass, and the business of building and preparing for the Olympic games will continue.
My message to Londoners is keep your head up, and continue to be proud of this opportunity to host the world in 2012. While you're at it, let me know if you need any assistance...will be happy to assist in any way I can.
Oh, goodness! All this talk of worry and deep concern! In less than 18 months England and most all of the other leading economic countries of the world will be long out of these economic woes. This is nothing compared to the Great Depression of the 1930s. THAT was economic hardship. This is quite different. Sponsors are nervous only because, in the excitement of getting onboard, they probably overcommitted a bit. But they will be glad to be part of it when we reach New Year 2012. London and England should be proud and ready to enjoy hosting the Olympic Games. And, no, it does not have to be like what we just saw in China. In fact, it should not be. Each host country does it differently and does it in a different style. So it will be in England. And the young athletes of the world look forward to that. England, you will do just fine! As the Aussies like to say, "No worries!" The London games will be super. And the work to prepare -- yes, very expensive -- will result in much needed improvements for some of these more ugly parts of greater London. British strengths will shine through: Hard work, determination, creativity, and enthusiasm. And, in the end, Britain's famed hospitality will make the Summer Games memorable. Cheers!
