Australian actress Cate Blanchett gets her star on the famous Hollywood boulevard Walk of Fame. An Oscar-winner for her role in Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator", she appeared in all three episodes of "The Lord of the Rings".

AFP - Australian actress Cate Blanchett on Saturday accepted the role of an Oscar-winner honored with her own star on Hollywood's old-school Walk of Fame.

The new name on star number 2,376, Blanchett was joined for the ceremony by directors Steven Spielberg, with whom she worked on the fourth instalment of "Indiana Jones," and David Fincher, whose "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" opens this month starring Blanchett and Brad Pitt.

While deeply committed to theatre and film in her home country, Blanchett has found the time to build an A-list international film career, including nominations for many Academy Awards.

Now 39, the mother of three and winner of an Oscar in 2005 for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in "The Aviator," last January she was nominated for best actress in "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" as well as for best supporting actress for her gender-bending turn as Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There."

Hollywood Star

Although some names on the sidewalk of the stars may detract from from the overall value of the "honor", I can attest to the quality of Miss Blanchett's work, having had the opportunity to personally observe her in action on the set of "The Missing". Her intensity and dedication to her trade was absolutely unparalleled as far as I'm concerned. Nine feature productions may not be a large sample, but it was enough for me to conclude
that this actress is among the very best I've worked with.

Blanchett Buys Herself A Star

Does a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame mean anything anymore? Anybody with the, what is it now?, five grand and the right publicist can buy themselves one of those. PAULY SHORE has one! Who takes movies or Hollywood seriously anymore?
