France's Leveaux breaks 50m shortcourse freestyle record

After beating the European record, Frenchman Amaury Leveaux, the Beijing Games' silver medalist, set a new world record in the 50m shortcourse freestyle, clocking 20.48 sec in the semi-finals of the European championships at Rijeka, Croatia.

AFP - Amaury Levaux of France set a new world mark for the 50m shortcourse freestyle here Thursday, timing 20.48sec in the European Championships semi-final.

Levaux edged the previous mark of 20.64sec which South African Roland Schoeman set on September 6.
