Leveaux helps France scoop a record 20 medals
Led by Amaury Leveaux (pictured), world record holder four times over in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 4x50m medley, France's team swiped 20 medals in total including seven golds, just behind Russia who racked up eight golds.

France won a record 20 medals at the last European championships in Rijeka, Croatia. Amaury Leveaux contributed largely to France's good results. The 23-year-old from Mulhouse, on fire during this competition, scooped four world records in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 4x50m medley.

In total, the French have beaten 9 European and 22 national records. It is the best performance ever made by the national selection.

The squad finish just behind Russia, who won 14 medals including 8 gold.
