We should have a new European Language standard,A universal pan European Union language,English, most Europeans already are familiar with it,and if the E.U taught english to all of its immigrants,then where ever they went they would be able to communicate,as everyone knows english is already Europes second and only common language,who knows,maybe they could even teach the British!
It's not unreasonable for France to require immigrants to meet minimun standards in language proficiency, skills & education, in order to ensure they will be able to support themselves and not become a burden to taxpayers. Immigrants can be a productive resource or they can be a drain on resources..... it largely depends on good immigration laws.
As for the French language, it is among the world's most beautiful and most beloved. Unfortunately, French influence has been declining on the world stage.
Unlike more aggressive & permanent colonizers like Britain and Spain, France has repeatedly squandered chances to establish deep roots in it's colonies, leaving French influence floating adrift when the colonial era ended.
Scholars can debate why France was an ineffective long-term colonizer; maybe other colonial powers would not have done better if they had faced the same challenges:
(a) a battered economy drained further by fighting the powerful British Empire alongside American colonists, (for which the French barely get credit, despite their vital role in America's most important war.)
(b) the French Revolution,
(c) the very costly Napoleonic Wars.
I am not a historian, so I'm sure others will have equally valid explanations for France's failure to secure permanent settlements, despite a French presence on all continents.
It is not too late for France to improve ties with former colonies, many of which are among the world's poorest nations. If France wishes to be more than a "former" world power, it needs to adopt serious measures to help it's former colonies develop into strong members of a French Community. If not, those countries will look elsewhere, and the French presence will soon fade into distant history.
Much can be done to strengthen France's influence on the world stage..... it's up to every French citizen to contribute to that effort.
I will always remembered the son of and Arabic cheek told me: when i speak French i can explain something in a different way ! Speak another language develop another approach of science,engineering,Life and a respect for all nationality and expand the brain !
If French language disapear all other language will disapear too and we will turn around of many question!
Dutch they did a good law for force the protection of their language! If your problem are so serious in your country and you do not want to speak Dutch or French for immigrate, is a proof your life wasn't so serious!
Only real immigrants will want to learn another language for their liberty! Fake immigrants get out!
I am appalled that France lets in all of the world's misery with these family programs, and yet has no immigration programs for people of French ancestry, in the way that Germany has for ethnic Germans, and Israel has for Jews. All of my ancestors were subjects of Louis XIV and XV, and I am stuck in the USA in an accident of history. I need to be in France: I speak as well as you, with no accent, and have a republican mindset. LET ME IMMIGRATE TO FRANCE! Any ideas?
Why on earth come up with it to drop one's pants at the end, I d like to highlight the Australian immigration system is a nightmare, pure NIGHTMARE. Once you are sponsored temporarly the employer can do whatever with you for 4 years, if you happen to love Australia and have nothing for you back home. You will be living a nightmare, why on earth are we so bloody weak in France??
Like it predecessor Latin, the French language has been taking a long time in dying. Unlike like English which is a language developed by the common people of Britain and the U.S., French has not evolved from the age of the sailing ship, because it is too restrictive. The reasons for this are ''Academie francaise which is body of rich and influential class of people in France.
English has grown worldwide, while French is gradually being replaced by many countries in Asia and Africa. But even a derivative of French patois in Quebec called Joual or Quebecois is having trouble surviving and requires edicts to stay alive. It is like putting a dead person on a LIFE-SUPPORT system, and it will not work. All the languages laws in Quebec or France will never keep their language alive, because it it is way past its time of survival.
If western govts,monitered all the vast amount of aid ,given to the sub-contineint ie africa,and insisted the aid was for developemnt of its countries structure ,instead on military equipement ,guns and ammunition,probably ,the people would not to come out in droves to the west.or is the aid just part of the bullshit in western policy.
