Kriss Nissen: 'We have the best car'

Text by Emmanuel VERSACE

Latest update : 2009-01-17

Just a few hours away from securing a Volkswagen one-two victory in Buenos Aires, the German team’s director Kriss Nissen, congratulates his drivers and expresses his satisfaction with the cars.

FRANCE 24 - Did you achieve your goals in this Dakar ?

Kriss Nissen - We are really satisfied with today’s stage and hope to secure a one-two victory tomorrow in Buenos Aires. We have the best cars and drivers of the rally. Our goals on the starting line were to be first and third. So we are heading towards better-than-expected result.

FRANCE 24 - The gap between your two drivers is only 2’20’’. What directions did you give them for the last stage ?

Kriss Nissen -
They’ll do what they have to do. Both Mark Miller and Giniel de Villiers have been very good. They’ll do their best tomorrow as well.

FRANCE 24 - What do you think of this first South American Dakar ?

Kriss Nissen - To win the Dakar, you need to beat the Dakar itself before thinking about your opponents. This year was a fantastic edition, very difficult. But we showed we could win in the most extreme circumstances.
