Hopefully some change will be done

It is amazing how many countries in the world consider change as a must do nowadays except France. i cannot believe the neo colonialism mentality is still in place in this country. I think people in France must see the islands as a paradise on earth where you HAVE to pay your way in. Basically you can go to the beach every Sunday, but you have to pay 3 euros for bread and 13 euros for deodorants in the supermarket.
I went to Guadeloupe once, and remember walking inside a store to buy shampoo and conditioner, I could not find any brand less than 9 euros!
Why? taxes from the French government on imported goods.
I don't know if the strike will resolve something, but at least it brings light to the problems of colonies in 2009, specially with government heads who are totally disconnected with reality for living on a island with high prices, high rents, high level of life, but not proportional to salaries. I hope something good comes out of it and make France react to the needs of its colonies! If not.. just let them go then!
