There is no conclusive scientific evidence that GM crops are safe for the environment - in fact many trials show that they have and adverse affect on the environment. We cannot afford to risk letting the genie out of the bottle until such time as the producers and proposers can provide conclusive proof that they are safe and this will take at least another 50 years. In the mean time we should not be taken in by the claims of Monsanto and its allies as they have historically underestimated the risk and produced suspect 'trials' to promote their wares. Their motive is purely financial and to establish a power base for themselves and their shareholders.
