Stefano Scarpetta, Head of the employment division, OECD
3,5 million will join the jobless rolls in Europe this year, as the global crisis batters labor markets. To discuss the rising wave of unemployment, D. Herbert talked to Stefano Scarpetta, head of the Employment Division at the OECD.

Three-and-a-half million. That's how many people will join the jobless rolls in Europe this year as the global economic crisis batters labor markets. Worldwide, 210 million will be out of work before 2009 is out, according to the United-Nations.

My guest this week, Stefano Scarpetta, has had a friont-row seat on these jobless trends.  He's head of the Employment Division at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a grouping of 30 rich nations.
