Chapter 6: Antwerp, the age of printing (1500-1560)
In the 15th century, Antwerp became the main place for trading of goods from all over Europe, the Antwerp Bourse being Europe's main financial centre. But speculation and religious wars put an end to Antwerp's hegemony.
On FRANCE 24, Jacques Attali presents 15 episodes of "Lessons for the Future.” Airing Tuesdays at 6:55pm and Mondays at 6:10pm in Arabic, Paris time (GMT +1), the programme takes the form of three-minute “chapters” that trace 2,000 years of economic history. The programme is inspired by Attali’s best-seller "Lessons for the Future" ("Leçons pour l’avenir", Fayard 2006).
