Demong becomes Nordic skiing world champion
American Bill Demong was crowned world champion after a win in the Nordic skiing 10km cross-country race in Liberec (Czech Republic) on Saturday.
AFP - America's Bill Demong won the Nordic Combined title here at the Nordic skiing World Championships on Saturday with victory over Germany's Bjoern Kircheisen and France's Jason Lamy-Chappuis.
The Americans success comes just two days after he lost his competition number which scuppered the United States chances of a medal in the team ski-jumping event.
Having finished eighth after the ski jump discipline here, he won the 10km cross-country race in a time of 23mins and 36.6secs to give the United States their third Nordic Combined title in four events after the success of compatriot Todd Lodwick.
