GDF Suez post first profit since merger

In its first annual report since the merger between Gaz de Fance and Suez in July 2008, giant energy group GDF Suez posted a 6.5 billion net profit.

AFP - French energy giant GDF Suez reported Thursday a 13% rise in net profits in 2008 to 6.5 billion euros (8.2 billion dollars).

The company also said in a statement it expects growth in its gross operating profit this year.
