France's Marion Bartoli bags Monterrey tournament
Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli clinched her first title since November 2006 after defeating China's Li Na in the final of the WTA Monterrey tournament. It's the fourth WTA title of her career.

AFP - China's Li Na failed to win her third tour title here on Sunday losing 6-4, 6-3 to Marion Bartoli of France in the final of the WTA Monterrey tournament.

Li, who defeated top seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland in the first round, made a strong start and was 4-2 ahead in the first set, but then lost three games in a row to the second-seeded French woman.

Bartoli then powered ahead to take the first set and lead 4-1 in the second before Li lifted her game again to get within a point of levelling at 4-4.

She failed to take that opportunity however and Bartoli then broke to love for the fourth title win of her career.

"I feel really good about how I played the whole week," Bartoli said.

"I had some tough matches, not just today but also in the semifinals.

"They were two tought sets. I hit some great shots at the right moment. I'm happy about my level.

"My first three titles came in 2006 when I was younger and not really expecting to win.

"So it's understandable why those ones were more emotional. But it's always nice to win titles, and this is a great one. Now I'm hoping to start winning bigger tournaments, and I hope I can keep playing like this in Indian Wells and Miami."
