Zuhir Latif, F24 journalist expelled from Sudan
FRANCE 24's former correspondent in Darfur, Zuhir Latif, talks about his expulsion from Sudan by the Sudanese authorities. Latif describes the work conditions he faced while reporting on Darfur, an unstable region under strict army control.

Zuhir Latif is FRANCE 24's former correspondent in Darfur. After working in Sudan for many years, he was expelled by the authorities on March 1 for "violation of immigration procedure".

Latif believes this is an excuse made up by the Khartoum regime, increasingly annoyed by the presence of the Tunisian journalist in the troubled Sudanese region of Darfur.

The day after Latif returned from Darfur to Khartoum he was arrested and all his belongings were taken away. He was then interrogated during 48 hours in a one-metre-square cell.

But this experience will not prevent him from going back in Darfur to report on the atrocities inflicted on the population there.
