TALK

Didier Lombard, France Telecom CEO

©

Latest update : 2009-03-18

Didier Lombard, CEO of French telecommunications giant France Telecom, explains the situation in the French market and the competition his company faces on FRANCE 24's Business Interview with Raphael Kahane.

FRANCE 24’s Business Interview welcomes Didier Lombard, CEO of France Telecom, who discusses the content wars between telecommunications providers, from Free and Canal+ to Orange.

Lombard reveals that he might have to consider suspending the broadcast of Orange Sport, a subscription-only sports television network. A French commercial court demanded that he remove the exclusivity restrictions regarding the rights to certain football replays. France Telecom has appealed the decision, and a new judgment will be pronounced around April.

He is also facing the end of Orange’s exclusive deal with iPhones in France. As of April, SFR and Bouygues will also be allowed to compete in this market. Lombard talks about plans to put a server on the Apple Store on the Apple web site, enabling Apple users to watch television there.
