So the UK forgot to steal any oil or gain any advantage, they have stupidly only helped liberate 27 million people. This is, and always was, a selfless act driven by Tony Blairs genuine belief in liberal interventionism. As the trauma of forging a new united and free Iraq fades we should not forget who opposed, who lied about US and UK intent, who incited extremism and violence and death.

I think many in France should reflect on global fraternite as Sarko threatens to walk out of the G20 against the backdrop of Frances contribution to the freedom of others. Afghans deserve fraternite as well. All people are the same, they just have good or bad luck in where they are born. That is until everyone is free. Why not? Because there is no common will, particularly in places like France and Germany.
