The head of al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Omar Al-Baghdadi, has been arrested in Baghdad, a security spokesman told Agence France-Presse.

AFP - The head of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, was arrested in the Iraqi capital on Thursday, an Iraqi military spokesman said.
   
"Abu Omar al-Baghdadi was arrested today in Baghdad," Baghdad security spokesman Major General Qasim Atta told AFP.
   
"It was Iraqi forces who arrested him based on an intelligence tipoff from someone," he added.
