The Los Angeles Times says the “e-cigarette” gives you your nicotine fix, though without burning. What you inhale is a vapour, a bit like stage fog. However, the newspaper says that many countries, like Canada and Australia, have banned the product. They say it’s not been tested enough for safety.
The Chinese inventor Hon Lik claims it is a better alternative to smoking. Lik created the electronic cigarette around six years ago, after his father died of lung cancer. He now hopes to export his high-tech cigarette across the world.
