It's an inconvenient truth of the global financial crisis. While rich countries are busy bailing out their banks, tens of millions of people in the developing world risk falling into extreme poverty this year. Most live in Africa and Asia, where the recession threatens to wipe out the modest economic gains of recent years. Rich countries say they're aware of the threat, and want to help.

 

Douglas Herbert met Kevin Watkins, the Director of UNESCO'S Global Monitoring Report. He's waiting - and waiting - for world leaders to put their money where their mouth is.
