Bordeaux win to level on points with leaders Marseille

An easy 3-0 victory over Sochaux made Bordeaux a serious contender to the French league title. The club has now the same number as the leader Marseille, earlier Paris lost at home against Rennes and stayed fourth.

REUTERS - Girondins Bordeaux moved level on points with Ligue 1 leaders Olympique Marseille with a 3-0 victory against struggling Sochaux on Sunday.

 

Early goals by 19-year-old Gregory Sertic and France playmaker Yoann Gourcuff and a stoppage time header by Morocco striker Marouane Chamakh carried Bordeaux to 68 points with four games left.

 

Marseille top the table on goal difference after they drew 2-2 against Toulouse on Saturday.

 

Paris St Germain squandered a chance to go third when a Mamadou Sakho own goal consigned them to a 1-0 home defeat by Stade Rennes earlier on Sunday.

 

PSG stay fourth on 60 points, one behind Olympique Lyon. The seven-times champions lost 2-0 at Valenciennes on Saturday.
