The Chinese daily leads on the freeing of the 300-odd guests from a Hong Kong hotel, where they have been quarantined for the past week over H1N1 virus concerns.

What is interesting is that stories are now emerging of what went on in the hotel for the past few days. Love has been blossoming - two couples have apparently formed lasting relationships. There has also been plenty of partying - a birthday bash for a French guest reportedly going into the wee hours on Tuesday.

The pan-Arab daily reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has come under unprecedented attack from within his own conservative ranks as he registered his candidacy for June's presidential election. He has been accused by an opponent of mislaying a billion dollars in oil revenues. Since his popularity at home rests on his image as an honest man with a modest background, this could prove damaging.

In the past few days there has been a raft of revelations over how MPs in the UK have been fixing their expenses, claiming for all manner of goods and services at substantial cost to the taxpayer. Today there is the embarrassing revelation that former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott had his toilet seat repaired twice on the public purse back in 2004, prompting the suggestion that he be nicknamed "Two Lavs", instead of "Two Jags".
