Paris public 'pawn shop' auctions off fine wines
France's Credit Municipal undertook its first-ever sale of fine wine, auctioning off bottles that owners had exchanged for cash, but not repaid their debts.

France's Credit Municipal, a centuries-old institution which offers loans to individuals while holding their personal possessions as security, has undertaken its first-ever sale of fine wine.

 

The bottles that went under the hammer on Tuesday had all been exchanged for cash, but their owners failed to pay back the debt within in a year.
