Hostage killed in Delta crossfire, say militants

An unidentified hostage was killed in fighting between Nigerian troops and militants in Delta state on Friday, according to the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, the main militant group in the oil-rich region.

AFP - An unidentified hostage was killed by a stray bullet Friday in fighting between the Nigerian security forces and militants in the oil-rich Niger Delta, the region's main armed group said.
  
"One hostage has been killed by stray bullets from the Nigerian army who attacked an area they were being held in Delta state," the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) said in an email.
  
The group gave no more details on the identity or nationality of the hostage.
