Anti-abortion protesters disrupt Obama's speech at a US university
US President Barack Obama delivered the commencement address to the graduating class at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. He was interrupted by four men shouting anti-abortion slogans.
AFP - Four men shouting anti-abortion slogans briefly interrupted US President Barack Obama's controversial speech Sunday to a Catholic university but the gathered crowd drowned them out.
Obama was greeted with a standing ovation as he stood to deliver a commencement address to the graduating class at the University of Notre Dame after receiving an honorary degree.
The first man interrupted immediately and the three others interrupted at different points early in the speech, in which Obama spoke of the need to find "common ground."
One man could be heard shouting "Stop killing babies." Another shouted "Abortion is murder."
All four were quickly escorted from the arena by police and the crowd drowned them out with boos, and chants of Obama's campaign slogan "Yes we can" and the school slogan "We are ND."
