Coming up June 7: American going green?

Text by Eve IRVINE

Latest update : 2009-05-29

We'll take a look at President Barack Obama's revolutionary pledge to put the United States on the same environmental wavelength as the rest of the world. Send your comments now and we might include them in the show.

The arrival of US President Barack Obama in the White House merits an all-American "Environment" show. Obama has promised change and many in Europe are hoping that he will keep his electoral promises of catching up on the battle against climate change.

We'll look at how the US automobile industry is trying to clean up its act. How green are electric cars? Who can afford them? And could the US overtake Europe?

We’ll also be looking at "green" jobs. The idea has taken off on both sides of the Atlantic but as you’ll see,  becoming a green-collar worker isn’t as easy as Obama may have believed.

If you or someone you know has a green job, let us know and tell us about your experiences. Do you think that green jobs could help our economy?

Finally if you’re looking for a soul mate that has the environment on the brain, we’ll be showing you how you can connect.

All this and more, including a visit to Greensburg: a town that has been painted... green.
