Al Qaeda number two Ayman al-Zawahiri said in a message posted on a number of Islamist websites that Muslims have already heard Barack Obama's "bloody messages" ahead of the US president's trip to the Middle East.

AFP - Al-Qaeda number two Ayman al-Zawahiri said Tuesday that Muslims had heard Barack Obama's "bloody messages" ahead of the US president's trip to the Middle East, according to a US monitor of Islamist websites.

In an audio speech, Zawahiri argued that Obama has already presented a clear message to Muslims through US political and military policy in the Middle East and its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to the SITE Intelligence Group.

"His bloody messages were received and are still being received by Muslims, and they will not be concealed by public relations campaigns or by farcical visits or elegant words," Zawahiri said.

Zawahiri's message, posted on jihadist web forums, came as Obama was to embark Tuesday on his maiden trip to the Middle East which will include a much-anticipated speech to the Muslim world in Cairo on Thursday.

Egyptian-born Zawahiri said that those in his native country who welcome Obama are the "slaves" of America, those who made Egypt an "international station of torture" and those who besiege Palestinians in Gaza.

He urged Egyptians to shun Obama -- "that criminal who came seeking, with deception, to obtain what he failed to achieve on the ground after the mujahedeen ruined the project of the Crusader America in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia."

The audio speech is contained in a near-12 minute video produced by Al-Qaeda's media arm, As-Sahab, and titled "The Torturers of Egypt and the Agents of America Welcome Obama."
