Stay Closed
Many good points were made. It's interesting how people feel their rights are being violated when they themselves are not able to work on Sunday. I think the idea of staying closed on Sunday is more to keep the businesses from working their employees too hard. I disagree with the idea "work more, earn more." Rest is such an important part of being a hard worker, and keeping up productivity. We are human, and the fact is our bodies get tired no matter how hard we want to work. And let's face it, having one universal day off makes it SO much easier to coordinate time spent with family and friends. I don't understand why anyone would not want that. You can't pay me enough to give that up. 6 days out of the week is plenty of time to do your work, and make the money you need to support yourself and your family.
The day of Sunday is only fair to Christians
This is discriminatory to other religions. The Jewish rest on Saturday, so they don't have access to shopping.
The Muslims rest on Friday, but are imposed to work that day.
The family issue isn't one, usually the people in the same family are all of the same religion, so there's a very high chance that they will all pick the same rest day, their religious one.
This is just like other laws that date back to Napoleon, they're outdated and don't reflect the values that France is claiming it represents.
